Customized gadget for coupling dry-point contact transducers with the inspection object.
Direct shear-wave holder for ACS DPC probes, ensuring rigid opposite-side alignment and stable coupling for S-wave through-transmission measurements with the A1220 MONOLITH UPVT.
The DS-18xx holder is used with the A1220 MONOLITH UPVT – Ultimate Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Tester to perform shear-wave measurements in direct (through-transmission) mode. The transmitting and receiving ACS DPC shear probes are placed on opposite sides of the material, enabling high-sensitivity shear-wave velocity measurements.
Accurate direct S-wave transmission requires:
• precise opposite-side alignment of the two shear probes
• fixed and repeatable probe-to-probe pitch
• constant coupling force on both contact surfaces
The DS-18xx holder ensures these conditions through a rigid dual-side frame and a spring-stabilised coupling mechanism.
Compatible ACS shear-wave DPC transducers:
• S1902 — 120 mm pitch
• S1801 — 80 mm pitch
• S1802 — 80 mm pitch
• S1806 — 40 mm pitch
• S1807 — 25 mm pitch
• S1808 — 20 mm pitch
Typical applications with the A1220 MONOLITH UPVT:
• direct shear-wave velocity measurement
• detection of cracks, voids, delamination, and anisotropy
• evaluation of material integrity and stiffness gradients
• structural diagnostics of concrete, stone, and masonry
